Love in a Cup?

It is silly for me to assume so
That I should see more love
In a doodle than you
But somehow I do.
Silly indeed!
I sip my tea while you butter your toast
We sat in the sun
Only I felt the light.
Your nose was deep in the papers
Sniffing every current event
Failing to “see” the woman there
Waiting when, you’ll notice.
Gazing at her cup
Of lovers in autumn
Such young love;
Made my skin crawl.
To know now is not then
When we were like them.
So I sip my tea
Stuck in reverie
Of how I felt the warmth of caricatures in love
Than the man next to me.
Silly me!
Good morning my love
Should I pour you a cup?
