Black Friday.

“Women think of all colors except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.” ~Coco Chanel

Black.

That was that.

She had no colour

She had no shades

Black.

Like a funeral song

She sang along

Each day was a mourn

So they kept saying;

Night was day

Day was night

Dark she wore

And she felt bright.

Oh! She knew

What the wind blew

Closer to her ear

As they whispered

Such was a treat

For she felt no need

To wear colours and shades

When black was what made her day.

They will never ask the peacock

Why its feathers were majestically coloured

Or why the lemon tree seemed so bright

Green and yellow bursting hues;

But black no one knew?

Just dark and morose

Melancholy at the seams.

What a loner’s dream!

To sway in its cloth

Bathe in dark

Oh! She laughed.

Silly fools easily they assume

Such was the case

People and their gaze

Like a black cat crossing,

They will stop and stare.

 Retreat…

Stand out and they will talk

Conform, they still talk.

They will never know

The harmony in the seams

Of a little black dress

A woman’s shield.
